I love the lightning video and the reaction of the shooter. It was quiet the evening along the South Shore of Nassau County yesterday with lots of lightning strikes. Long Island seemed to do better with this round of thunderstorms than previous ones though they did fall apart over Suffolk County. At least most of the island got some rain and some rainfall amounts along the South Shore were substantial in the 2 inch plus range in many locations.
HEATWAVE FORECAST HIGHS TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Now comes the payoff today for Long Island with sunshine and lower humidity. The heatwave issue for Long Island is difficult to measure. For much of Suffolk County and the south shore temperatures did not get above the middle 80s which means the heatwave ended there yesterday and starts fresh today. For Northern Nassau and Northwest Suffolk it is either day 5 or day 6 depending on where you are. Being an island with a dominant ocean wind makes long stretches of 90 difficult especially as you head east.
HEATWAVE SATELLITE & RADAR LOOPS
Radars and satellite are pretty clear and will remain so through Wednesday. Thursday will be hot and humid with late thunderstorms and then a period of rain is looking more likely for later Thursday night and Friday and this could produce some decent island wide rainfalls. Low pressure is forecast to pass to the south and east which would keep temperatures in the 70s Friday. Rainfall amounts look to be in the 1 to 2 inch range if the track plays out favorably. The weekend looks nice with sunshine and highs in the 80s.
