A large, spinning upper level low brought showers to Long Island overnight, including some booms and flashes across Suffolk County this morning. That same line of thunderstorms actually prompted a tornado warnings on both Fisher and Block island.

Conditions have rapidly improved over the past several hours. Sunshine broke out quickly behind those storms, but more clouds are expected for the remainder of the day. Expect breezy conditions this afternoon as well, W 15-20 mph. Temperatures will remain below average both today and tomorrow.

High pressure builds in overnight, which means clearing skies and a chilly Tuesday morning with lows around 40°. It also means plenty of sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday as the high settles in to our south. At that time, a slow-moving front approaches from the west. The resulting southwesterly flow will mean Halloween highs reach into the 60s, with an outside shot at 70 on Thursday!

The front finally moves through on Friday, bringing showers and ultimately cooler temperatures by the weekend.
