As we come into the evening hours it appears to me that this was the hottest day of the summer so far on Long Island. Everyone hit 90 degrees today including Montauk which seldom hits 90. These were the 4pm temperatures on Long Island and nearby. It shows you that with a northwest wind, the coastal areas are as hot or even hotter than the traditional hot spots.

No issues regarding thunderstorms for us. If you look at the radar some thunderstorms are developing over Southern New Jersey where the dew points are in the lower 70s. Here the air is dry and that made the heat a little easier to take.
Sunday will be a few degrees less hot and there will be a sea breeze that will develop in the afternoon and evening. I suspect that if you are at the south shore beaches Sunday there will be at least a moderate risk of rip currents again so do exercise caution.
