Long Island MIdday Heat Sea Breeze Awaits
The Long Island heat is on today as temperatures everywhere except the immediate South Shore are in the upper 80s to a few lower 90s. Along the South Shore at the beaches it is in the pleasant 70s and that cooler air will work its way inland during the afternoon though it may take a little longer today than yesterday. We have deep blue skies and sunshine and the humidity is a little higher but it is still on the reasonable side.
There are no changes in the outlook for the rest of the week. Tuesday will be the last hot day with highs reaching 90 or better again. Late in the day or in the evening an back door front drops southward and there could be a few scattered thunderstorms with that. Then it turns much cooler island wide Wednesday with sunshine, an onshore wind and temperatures in the 70s. Thursday we will be in the 60s to around 70 or so with an east southeast wind and more cloud cover which will keep things quite cool. Right now from Friday through the weekend we see an increasing chance for showers. We will have more on the Father’s day weekend later today.
