Long Island Sees Some Showers Sunday And Late Monday Monday Night

It was not exactly what you would call a picture perfect day as temperatures remained stuck in the 40s and there were cloud issues. Now we move on to the second half of the weekend which will be warmer. A west southwest wind develops and takes over tonight and Sunday helping to keep temperatures up tonight in the upper 30s to middle 40s. Skies are partially clear to start the night but it will likely end overcast. Then Sunday morning we could see some scattered showers move through but in the afternoon we will see clouds give way to some sunshine and a gusty west southwest wind. Highs will reach into the mid to upper 60s in Nassau and Northwest Suffolk with highs in the low to mid 50s over the East End.

WEATHER RADAR

Sunday’s weather front stalls near or just to our north as it waits for the next storm system. That heads out of the Plains and into the Ohio Valley and Northeast Monday. There will be more clouds around on Monday so temperatures will be lower with highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s. Showers should hold off until Monday night and they should be gone by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday should see some sunshine returning with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Wednesday and Thursday see two waves of low pressure with rain that passes just to the south of Long Island. It certainly means lots of clouds around both days with highs in the low to mid 40s. Weather models are rather uncertain regarding next weekend with a stronger cold front coming in from the west and another wave of low pressure that forms off the Southeast US coast. We will continue to evaluate the situation in the coming days.
