Long Island Sunday In Clouds Some Rain Late Today & Tonight
We are going to see some rain today into Monday morning but as the map above shows it isn’t going to be much. It looks like it will be on the order of a third of an inch which is more of a nuisance than anything else. We do have a lot of clouds around today with a flow off the ocean. Long Island for now seems to be sandwiched in between two areas of rain with one to the northwest and one to the southeast. All of this suggests that a much of the daytime today will feature just a lot of clouds and nothing more than some patchy light rain or drizzle with temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 or so.
The radar this morning shows the split Long Island sits in. The heavy rain off the New Jersey Delaware coast seems to be sliding to the southeast and staying offshore so it is a matter of the rain to the northwest and when it gets here late today and tonight.
All of this should get out of the way on Monday though clouds may linger for awhile into the afternoon. Dry air to the north should finally make its way southward to the coast during Monday afternoon and we will go to a mix of sun and clouds late in the day. Tuesday and Wednesday look dry with some sunshine both days with highs in the 60s. Wednesday with a little luck and wind that behaves itself, we could perhaps manage 70 degrees or so.
