Gloomy Week On & Off Rain

Still Uncertain Late Week Noreaster Threat

Nothing has become clearer regarding the possibility of a late week noreaster. Weather models are still showing a lot of energy heading for the Middle Atlantic Coast however because of the on going problems regarding lots of energy running around in the overall atmosphere, how low pressure develops and reacts to all this remains a big question.

In the short range radar is showing the first round of today’s rain moving out to the east with just some leftover showers for the remainder of the day. It remains cloudy and gloomy and raw as temperatures have been struggling all day in the upper 40s and lower 50s for the most part. That part of the equation doesn’t change much for tonight.

Regarding a second surge of rain coming for late tonight and Monday morning, weather models have backed off a bit on this as the next wave goes by to our west. This probably means showers rather than rain moving through. Some come through during Monday morning into early afternoon and then the HRRR model shows some in the afternoon along with the chance for a thunderstorm in some spots.

Most of the showers with the second part of this seem to track to the south across Central and Southern New Jersey on this model run. Temperatures Monday should reach the 60s as the onshore flow relaxes some.

Tuesday brings another round of clouds and rain as low pressure tracks up just to the south and east. Once that is done then there could be a short break in the threat for rain until later Wednesday and Wednesday night as yet another low move up. Each surge doesn’t bring a lot of rain in terms of overall amounts so no flooding issues are anticipated. At least through the middle of the week, don’t expect much if any sunshine. Even if we manage to dry up enough to allow for a few hours of brightening, that’s all it will be.
