Memorial Day Not Looking Good For Long Island Especially East
At the very least the first half of Memorial Day looks dicey. We have low pressure developing offshore and an area of rain to work through beginning in the early morning hours and lasting until midday. Weather condtions will likely improve in the afternoon across Nassau and Western Suffolk however from Riverhead east it may be problematic with showers lasting well into the afternoon and skies clearing not until evening. It will be a raw day with temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 until the sun comes..if it comes out at all.

The development of this coastal low also will continue the coastal flooding at high tide on Monday which has been an on going issue for days now with minor coastal flooding forecast for the south shore of Long Island mainly for Nassau County.
Tuesday brings another day with an onshore flow, clouds and the chance for showers and thunderstorms. The cool wet spring pattern continues. This year at least for Long Island it has been a much more typical spring pattern. The chart below shows the temperature profile for Islip for the month of May
