Miserable Day On Long Island Improvement On The Way Better Thursday

Low pressure is about to make an exit and it can’t happen soon enough. Clouds have been the story all day with an ocean wind. Some rain is moving to the east and it should be ending shortly. Temperatures however have struggled all day thanks to the onshore flow and the low tracking to the south. We have been in the 50s all day long.

Not to far to the south the wind direction has been west across Southern New Jersey, Southern Pennsylvania and points southward. Here temperatures reached the 70s and there have been breaks of sunshine. Such is spring in the Northeast where the onshore flow is always a menace.

SATELLITE

As the low moves away and the cold front moves offshore we should clear out tonight. It will become breezy and lows by morning will be in the upper 40s to around 50. Thursday will be the best day of the week with sunshine and a bit of a breeze. Highs will reach the low and mid 60s.

Friday Long Island will find itself stranded between a coastal storm offshore and to the east and an upper trough inch its way from the west. We will probably be dry through the day Friday and into Friday night as the showers with the upper trough stall to the west. Highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.  The upper trough will linger around on Saturday leaving us with more clouds than sun along with some scattered showers. Highs Saturday will only be in the mid to upper 50s.

Another wave of low pressure approaches Sunday and the track will be to our south. Sunday will be a cloudy day but there is a fair chance rain will hold off until Sunday night. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s (depending on cloud cover). The wave slides east and offshore Monday which will start with clouds but we could see improvement as the day wears on.
