Rain Clips Long Island Wednesday Morning
Rain Clips Long Island Wednesday Morning
The second in a series of low pressure areas is headed up the coast and will pass just offshore Wednesday morning. The rain that is forecast should be light and probably well under a quarter of an inch and may wind up being under a tenth of an inch.
RAIN CLIPS LONG ISLAND HRRR MODEL WEDNESDAY MORNING 5AM-11AM
The radar presentation on the HRRR model looks worse than reality. The heavy rain passes well to the south and east and it should be done by 9 or 10 am at the latest. Some models have the rain missing completely. Looking at the satellite and radar at the moment one would probably come to an opposite conclusion since the radar is fairly loaded at the moment to the south of us. But all models seem to weaken the overall area of rain and shift it to the east so we see no reason to go against that idea.
Once the low goes by we will see clouds and some breaks of sun and temperatures could run to the mid 60s to near 70. But more rain is coming Thursday as a stronger low swings out of the Ohio Valley and redevelops in our back yard. Rain will arrive Thursday morning about the time the morning commute begins and it continues into the evening Thursday. Combine that with leftover showers on Friday and we could see an inch to an inch and a half of rain out of this.
GFS RAINFALL FORECAST THURSDAY-FRIDAY
As for the holiday weekend, Saturday will be the best of the 3 days for sure though there will be clouds around but some sun will be in the mix. Highs could reach into the 70s. Then more clouds with some rain or showers developing late in the day Sunday and Sunday night. Another round of showers late Monday Memorial Day.
HURRICANE SEASON begins soon and JOESTRADAMUS has an early look at the month of June.
