Snow Moving East Icy Roads
Snow Moving East Icy Roads
Snow fell over Long Island this afternoon and parts of Suffolk County received almost 2 inches in some places. The snow is moving out now and what remains are soon to be icy roads as temperatures settle in the 20s.
The shadings in blue and gray indicate the last radar echos showing up and there is a very fine light snow still falling and this will continue for another couple of hours before it all ends. Skies should clear out afterwards and that should set us up for a nice sunny day on Sunday to melt most if not all the light snow away. Sunday temperatures should reach the lower 40s.
Sunday night will be clear with light winds which sets us up for ideal radiational cooling conditions. Temperatures will drop down into the teens especially in the Pine Barrens in Suffolk County. Monday will be dry and cold with some sunshine and highs in the upper 30s.
Tuesday a warm front approaches from low pressure heading toward the Great Lakes. This will probably bring a chilly rain here with temperatures in the 40s. That rain will continue into Wednesday and it should produce another 1/2 inch to 1 inch rainfall. No snow is forecast for the entire work week but the pattern will change as we head toward the end of the month. JOESTRADAMUS has more in his latest post.
