Another Not So Nice Spring Weekend For Long Island
The weekend is here and Long Island is getting reading for another not so nice spring weekend. An upper trough lies to the west and at least for tonight, the showers and thunderstorms with this upper trough will likely stay west of the the coast. A coastal storm offshore will be too far out to cause issues so that leaves us with mainly cloudy skies for tonight with lows in the mid to upper 40s.
SATELLITE
Saturday is a bit of a tough call with this upper trough overhead. We will certainly see lots of clouds and I will throw in the chance for scattered showers. Some folks will see rain, and some won’t. But it will be a cool day with the cloud cover so highs will just be in the upper 50s.
Sunday morning could start with some sun but clouds should increase quickly during the day and some rain or showers will follow during the afternoon into Sunday night. Where the warm front sets up to the south will determine how far south the rain shield will be. The low will be passing overhead Sunday night into Monday with a cold front. That front could get hung up briefly leaving us with some shower chances into Monday afternoon. Sunday highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Monday highs will be in the 60s. Tuesday and Wednesday will be breezy cool days with some sunshine. Another weather system follows next Thursday with increasing clouds and the chance for some rain later in the day.
