High clouds on the satellite loop are streaming rapidly northward as a coastal storm is now developing along the Carolina coastline. Noreaster conditions there will skip long island tonight and impact Southeastern New England. We will get into some rain from this overnight until about daybreak on Wednesday as the strong storm pulls away to the northeast. Rainfall amounts will range from very little in Western Nassau County to about an inch on the East End. There isn’t much room for upside here as the low is going to slide away to the northeast well to our south. While it might get breezy overnight it will not reach gale force except in the coastal waters offshore.

Meanwhile as the clouds increase we are beginning to see a large area of rain spreading northward into Southeastern Virginia into the Delmarva Peninsula. Rain will develop tonight after sunset sometime between 8pm and 11pm and it should all end from west to east between 5am and 8am on Wednesday.

Weather conditions improve on Wednesday with skies becoming partly to mostly sunny from west to east Wednesday morning though it might take most of the morning to get the clouds out of Eastern Suffolk County. Temperatures Wednesday afternoon will be warming into the 60s except 50s to the east. Northwest winds and no seabreeze will actually make for a nice Wednesday.

Thursday it is back to normal temperature wise with sunshine giving way to late day arriving clouds with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. We will be setting up for an onshore flow on Friday which means a raw cloudy rainy finish to the week followed by warmer temperatures over the weekend if the onshore flow relaxes enough. With some luck we should see 60s over the weekend.
