We have a Flash Flood Watch Nassau County but not for Suffolk County. However for both Long Island counties there is the threat for heavy downpours this afternoon and evening. Latest regional radar is showing thunderstorms developing all around Long Island. Now whether those thunderstorms with heavy downpours actually move over Long Island is another question. Given that we are sitting in a very warm humid tropical air mass, the possibility is there for heavy rains. Not everyone will experience them.

Temperatures are probably not going to rise much further but with dew points in the low to mid 70s, it is like a soup bowl outside. From here on in we will watch how the thunderstorms develop as we go through the afternoon and evening.
Flash Flood Watch Nassau County Radar Loops
We are going to go through this all over again Friday evening as a cold front approaches. Friday will be hot and humid and a good day to hit the beach. No thunderstorms are forecast during the day so at least it will be rain free until after 5 or 6pm Friday. Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Over the weekend a cooler drier air mass will be arriving and you will really see a nice change by Sunday.
