The 4th of July holiday weekend is just about here and if you want an idea of what it will be like, take today and multiply it by 3! But first we have to get through Friday which is of course the big getaway day. This is the one day that is at issue with a cold front approaching and coming through.
Heavy Downpours Friday Great Weekend Severe Weather Risk
If you are driving west and off Long Island to other areas I would advise to avoid the 5pm-10pm time period as this is when some areas will be getting some heavy thunderstorms. Long Island is not at the severe weather risk area at the moment, however areas to the west in New York City, New Jersey and the Hudson Valley are.

Right now radars are quiet and there are no problems for tonight and probably for the first part of Friday until noon. In fact we will probably see some sunshine Friday morning. Now as far as the thunderstorms go I think we have a shot of them being some heavier rain producers. My hope is that the water temperatures are now close to 70 and that might be warm enough to prevent the storms from completely falling apart.
Saturday through Monday we have no issues. Low humidity and sunshine all three days. Highs will be in the lower 80s..nights will be in the 60s. No rain is in the forecast again until later Tuesday. Fireworks on Monday should go off with no weather issues.
