HRRR Model Dry Overnight
Some Showers But Severe Weather Stays South
It’s a nice warm evening across Long Island with temperatures in the low to mid 80s and we are finishing off the day with sunshine. Temperatures will start to drop off tonight as we head into the 60s. Humidity levels are nice and low so it is comfortable and will remain so overnight. Gradually as we head into the morning hours there will be a wind shift to the northeast and east which will help in the temperature drop. Radars below will remain quiet locally as no rain is forecast overnight. The regional radar will start to show some rain to the west later tonight into Thursday morning.
The HRRR model has things dry through 8am Thursday. We see rain well south and west. This is probably a good indicator that the warm sector of the next low pressure are will be to our south and not overhead. Though the HRRR model likes to change, it stiil would seem we should have a dry morning commute.

As long as winds stay to the east it will keep temperatures cool on Thursday. Depending on clouds some areas may have a tough time breaking 70. Inland we should see low 70s as long as the sun doesn’t break through. It will not be an all day wash out by any means and unless a heavy thunderstorm were to develop we would anticipate rainfall amounts to be rather light over Long Island, under a quarter of an inch and in some places under a tenth of an inch.
Once this weather system is done Friday through Sunday look good with lots of sunshine. Highs each day will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s so it should be a very good beach weekend.
