Long Island Beach Day Sunday Warm Humid 80s Cooler Less Humid Memorial Day
This time of year getting a beach day on Long Island is tough because of the cold ocean temperatures in the 50s and the dominating sea breeze that wants to come in any chance it gets. Today however it seems that we are going to get one of those early summer season type days where an offshore wind will dominate long enough to allow temperatures to rise into the 80s. Even at the shore we should reach into the 70s before the sea breeze takes hold later in the day. We will see sunshine at least into the afternoon before any clouds from an approaching cold front arrive. This all comes right in the middle of our Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.

Sunday evening brings a cold front. Im going to cover for the possibility of a downpour or a thunderstorm but it seems that the best chances for a shower or thunderstorm will be to the south of Long Island. If that is the case the front comes through dry and leads to a cooler drier air mass for Monday. Memorial Day will feature a good deal of sunshine with most highs in the middle 70s. It will be a pleasant way to end the holiday weekend. Tuesday however brings back the part of spring that Long Island sees a lot of. The dreaded onshore flow with a warm front and wave to the south.
If this verifies it could be a miserable day Tuesday of clouds, some rain, and temperatures just in the 60s. To the south is hot hair that is trying to move northward. Wednesday is problematic because that front may still be struggling near or just to our south. I think it eventually gets through for Thursday which puts us back in the 80s with the chance for late day thunderstorms. Another front will be coming by bringing a cooler less humid air mass for later Friday and at least the start of next weekend.
