Long Island Stuck In Clouds Rain Only Slow Improvement Into Monday
A pesky little low off the New Jersey coast has turned this Sunday into a dreary one on Long Island. It is frustrating to see clouds on the satellite and rain on the radar sitting over the island while areas just to the west and north are enjoying partly to mostly sunny afternoon. Long Island will remain on the edge of this small low pressure area and that means clouds for the rest of the day with lingering rain of varying intensity and when it is not raining, we will just go to a light drizzle and patchy fog. Temperatures are in the upper 60s and lower 70s with a northeast wind and those conditions will hold for the rest of the day.

WEATHER RADAR
The rain on the radar is coming in from off the ocean and sweeping back westward. We have seen bands of heavier rain in the mix earlier and some heavier bands continue to appear on the radar. The overall area is not moving anywhere for now as the low looks to meander for another day or so just to the south of Long Island and east of New Jersey.
Clouds will continue overnight along with some scattered showers or just drizzle. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s. The low will remain to our south Monday only inch slowly eastward with time. This will likely mean clouds around along with a passing shower but there could be a few breaks of sun developing later in the day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s if we can see some improvement in the sky conditions.
The low finally is gone by Tuesday and we go very warm to hot and humid for the rest of the week. Thunderstorms should be at a minimum if at all until Friday when a cold front approaches and offers the highest chance for thunderstorm activity. Temperatures each day Tuesday through Friday will be in the mid 80s to near 90 inland and near 80 at the beaches. Nights will be warm and humid with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s. If things go according to plan we should see humidity relief next weekend.
