Long Island Temperatures 25 Degree Spread From South to North
Today is a perfect example of what happens on Long Island in the Spring. We see Long Island temperatures near 50 along the south shore and near 75 on the north shore at 5pm this evening. All of this being caused by the south wind off the ocean. Actually that south wind was blowing all day long along the south shore and is only now beginning to reach the north shore! Ocean water temperatures are in the upper 40s so for areas south of Sunrise it has not been a warm last 2 days by any means.
This evening we will be watching clouds to the west and we will also be watching to see whether low clouds and fog develop overnight as it is a possibility. Tempertures will probably wind up cooling off to the mid and upper 40s overnight island wide.
Wednesday could wind up being the warmest of the last few days for areas on Long Island that have been dealing with the ocean wind. Winds on Wednesday will turn northwest so this should allow temperatures to reach the upper 60s and lower 70s everywhere. Clouds and a passing shower in the morning will give way to some sunshine in the afternoon. Thursday and Friday will be dry with some sun with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s which for some areas will actually be warmer than it has been for the last 2 days.
