Long Island Weekend Weather Forecast Looks OK
We are headed into the first weekend of June and it appears to me that overall while not picture perfect, it should be ok most of the time. We see some scattered showers on the radar this evening and they should die off soon enough. Overnight there will be some clouds around. The satellite loop below shows a strong northwest flow around an upper air storm in Eastern Canada. Little spokes of energy keep rotating around and moving through here. They are weak but they are strong enough to trigger off scattered activity. We saw this Thursday afternoon and again today. Another one of these spokes will be moving through early Saturday morning with clouds and a shower can’t be ruled out. But by mid morning it should be long gone and some sunshine will develop for the rest of the day. Saturday’s highs will be in the 70s.
Sunday is a little more problematic with a warm front approaching which will probably mean clouds developing and an onshore (south or south southeast) wind. This will probably keep it a bit cool especially if you are shore bound. Showers and thunderstorms could approach but I’m betting at this point that they hold off until late afternoon or possibly evening. Temperatures will reach into the 70s inland but along the south shore it is likely to stay in the 60s.
