Merry Christmas!
Santa has left us with lots of sunshine for the next few days. Conditions will be dry and seasonably chilly through Thursday. Our next weather system approaches Thursday night, and Friday will be rainy from start to finish. While the timing will be very similar to last week, this storm will not be as potent (flooding, wind).
WEEKEND SNOW POSSIBLE
Skies will briefly clear on Saturday, but a coastal low will form to our south and bring either rain or snow to the area on Sunday. It’s too far out to tell exactly what the precipitation type will be for Long Island, but both the GFS and Euro are in agreement about the low forming. If everything breaks right and cold air from the north winds out, we cold be looking at a moderate snow event. Right now New Year’s Eve and Day both look cold but quiet. There may be another minor rain/snow event on the 2nd.
SOMETHING BIG FOR THE NEW YEAR?
Looking deeper into next week, there could be something bigger brewing. The Euro EPS has picked up on a major snow event for Saturday the 5th. Something to keep an eye on. –Geoff
