Odette Offshore Kicks Up Surf Otherwise a Nice Last Summer Weekend For Long Island
Tropical Storm Odette is a couple of hundred miles to the southeast of Long Island. It is kicking up the surf a bit in case you are at the beaches or headed to the beach this afternoon. Otherwise it certainly is a beach day with sunshine and a few clouds. The humidity is on the high side today and temperatures will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. A cold front will approach and move through tonight. Ahead of it this evening and tonight there could be a scattered thunderstorm. Otherwise skies will clear out once the front moves offshore. Odette is moving to the northeast and is of no concern here other than surf issues and rip currents at the shore.

Sunday will be a nice sunny day and the dew points will be dropping into the 50s setting us up for reasonable humidity. Highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80. The dry air continues on Monday with plenty of sunshine. A northeast wind will keep things on the cooler side with most highs in the 70s.
Tuesday the onshore flow will start to bring in some clouds from the east and the chance there could be some drizzle and fog around Tuesday morning and again Tuesday night. Otherwise it should be one of those cloudy to occasionally partly sunny type days so typical in the late summer and early autumn. Highs will be just in the 70s. Wednesday we have a strong front approaching and that will bring increasing clouds and an increasing southerly flow. Highs Wednesday will be in the 70s but rain holds off until Wednesday night. It will likely be ending Thursday morning around daybreak and then leftover clouds will give way to some sun. Highs Thursday will be in the lower 70s and Friday will be a nice sunny cool day to finish the week. Highs will just be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.
