For the second day in a row Islip set a record high of 93 breaking the old record of 92 set back in 1988. This is the second day in a row of record highs. This is also the last day of record highs as a cold front is approaching from upstate New York. Radars are showing some scattered strong to severe thunderstorms across parts of the Hudson Valley and Connecticut and they are moving southeast. Whether they hold together or not remains to be seen. The risk for a thunderstorm will continue until about midnight or so. Then we will have leftover clouds for the remainder of tonight. One of the things that is different today as the map shows above is that the sea breeze is really struggling to move inland this evening and is confined mainly to the shore locations. We even saw 90 degree highs over the South Fork on the East End which doesn’t happen that often.

Wednesday could start with some early leftover clouds but we should go to some sunshine by mid morning and much of Wednesday should be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Thursday looks nice dry and cool with sunshine with highs in the upper 60s near the coast to the low to mid 70s inland. Friday will hinge on tonight’s front backing northward as a warm front and how much cloud cover gets in here. For now lets call it sunshine giving way to arriving clouds with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. The chance for showers and thunderstorms will be in the forecast for the weekend with the best chances later Sunday into Sunday night.

Android or I-phone, use it to keep track of all the latest weather information and forecasts. This weather app is also free of advertising so you don’t have to worry about security issues with your device. An accurate forecast and no worries that your device is being compromised.

Use it in conjunction with my website and my facebook and twitter and you have complete weather coverage of all the latest weather and the long range outlook. The website has been redone and upgraded. Its easy to use and everything is archived so you can see how well Joe does or doesn’t do when it comes to forecasts and outlooks.
