Showers Possible Partly Sunny Afternoon Low Humidity Continues

We are dealing with an upper trough in New England that is moving southeastward. It is a weak system but we have clouds around and there are some light showers in Southern New England on the radar moving southeastward. There could be a shower chance until midday especially over Suffolk County and the East End. The trough should move along and this afternoon as clouds thin out we should go to partly sunny skies. It will be a cool day as clouds limit heating so highs today will just reach into the 70s.

There should be no issues tonight nor should there be any for the daytime Sunday. Overnight lows will be in the 50s to near 60. Sunday skies should be cloudy to partly sunny. Highs should reach the low to mid 70s. Dew points will be in the 50s so it will be comfortable.

Sunday night brings a series of weak cold front through Long Island. We could see some showers or a thunderstorm when the front passes during the early morning hours. Monday we will have partly sunny skies and highs again will be in the 70s with reasonable humidity. The frequency of weather systems moving through is thanks to a strong northwest flow in the Eastern US that will be with us all week. It can’t get hot or humid because there is little time between frontal passages. Another chance of a shower or thunderstorm is there for Monday evening. The front will likely get hung up for awhile offshore but it should be far enough east to prevent any serious issue. Tuesday will be partly sunny again with highs in the mid to upper 70s. High pressure builds in for Wednesday and Thursday so it is more of the same, partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s. It looks like an uneventful week but at least there is no heat and humidity to deal with for 7 days or so.
