South Wind Long Island Air Conditioner
South Wind Long Island Air Conditioner
Long Island is catching a break from the 90 degree plus highs that will occur later this afternoon to the west. The south wind has been blowing all day and that has kept temperatures in check. North of the Long Island Expressway as of 11am we see temperatures are into the 80s but on the lower end verses the higher end. South of the Expressway temperatures have been holding in the 70s to near 80. The south wind off the 60 degree ocean is doing a good job of keeping temperatures down. Highs will reach the 80s in many areas but it seems that except for prehaps northwest Nassau County most of the Island will stay under 90 degrees and much of the South Shore and East End will be in the 70s.
EASTERN SATELLITE LOOP
Nothing much is happening on the satellite loop or the radars at the moment. We should see sun for the rest of the day. Im not expecting any pop up thunderstorms however tonight as a cold front moves through we could see some thunderstorms running around after 10 or 11 pm. The front will pass through and Tuesday we will see clouds early giving way to sunshine and lower humidity. A northwest wind on Tuesday will mean higher temperatures for the South Shore compared to today and we should be in the 80s for highs just about everywhere. Wednesday looks like a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Then look for a chance for showers Wednesday night into Thursday as a wave of low pressure goes by to our south.
