Summer Weekend Spring Sea Breeze Moving Inland
We are enjoying a beautiful summer weekend on Long Island with lots of sunshine but we are also seeing the spring sea breeze work its way inland late this afternoon. Temperatures to the west across New Jersey to NYC & the Hudson Valley are in the low to middle 80s while here on Long Island that south southwest wind is cooling temperatures off everywhere except right along the North Shore where it is in the 80s at 4pm. Everywhere else we have dropped into the 70s and even some 60s are now showing up right along the beaches on the South Shore. The cool off will continue into this evening and other than a few passing clouds there are no serious issues. Some specks of showers are popping up on the local radar below to the north and west but for now they are few and far between. Unless one sneaks in this evening, there are no worries weather wise for tonight.
Sunday Monday and Tuesday will be hot days and many areas on Long Island certainly away from the shore will reach 90 degrees. South shore temperatures will hinge on how long we can keep the west wind going before any sea breeze develops.

Remember ocean water temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s right now which is actually a little bit below average so a sea breeze developing would not be a surprise. Certainly the beaches would be a much better place to be if you can manage it. Lots of sunshine is forecast Sunday into Tuesday with maybe a thunderstorm late Tuesday when a cold front pushes through. Wednesday and Thursday look dry and partly sunny but temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees lower especially on Thursday.
