Warm Humid Weekend Cold Front Arrives Showers Tuesday Cooler Late Week

WEATHER IN 5 PODCAST FRIDAY 9/25/2020

Autumn weekends are for apple picking, pumpkin picking and the vineyards on the East End. I’m not exactly sure what is open due to covid and what isn’t. Either way this weekend is going to be a warm and somewhat humid weekend but nothing outrageous. Yesterday’s high clouds have sagged southward so we are seeing more sun today. Temperatures are on the warm side and we should reach the mid to upper 70s this afternoon for highs.

Clouds and rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Beta and an old frontal boundary continues today across Virginia and North Carolina. The northern extent is at the Delmarva Peninsula. The rain should slide to our south and unless a stray shower sneaks in tomorrow or Sunday, the weekend should be okay. It won’t be picture perfect but it will be okay for outdoor activities.

Saturday highs will be in the low to mid 70s. Clouds in the mix and a breeze off the ocean will keep temperatures in check to a certain extent. Sunday we will see highs in a range of 75 to 80 degrees.

We haven’t seen much if any rain for the last 2 weeks and weather conditions are abnormally dry bordering on drought in parts of the Northeast especially New England. This should get some help early next week with an approaching cold front. Monday will bring some scattered showers but more numerous showers and possibly even a thunderstorm or two Tuesday into early Wednesday. Highs both Monday and Tuesday will be in the 70s. Much cooler air follows for the second half of the week and the long range suggests we could see cooler than average temperatures hanging around for awhile as October gets underway. The tropics are quiet and should remain so into next week but they cold rev up again in this overall favorable pattern for tropical storm development.
