Watching Thunderstorms Moving Southeast
Weekend Looks Better
Looking at the satellite & radar tonight we are seeing some showers and thunderstorms well north and west however the latest HRRR model does hold on to these downpours for awhile at least and we can see them hold together enough to make it to Western Long Island during the early morning hours. They should be in the dying phase so they will weaken rather quickly as they move east.
US SATELLITE
Regional and local radars are showing some of those heavy downpours and thunderstorms moving southeastward. Once these storms play out we should be done with them for the rest of the night.
The front takes its sweet time passing through on Saturday which means we will see clouds with some breaks of sun with warm humid conditions. Highs will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s and there could be another downpour or thunderstorm in the afternoon or early evening. It wont be too bad on Saturday so go ahead with outdoor plans but keep an eye to the sky.
Sunday we could get lucky here as dry air moves south from New England. If this plays out we may have a nice day of sunshine at least into the afternoon with temperatures in the 60s to near 70. Rain looks to be suppressed to the south. We will see clouds increase later in the day Sunday with rain coming in later Sunday night or Monday as low pressure moves just offshore to our south and east. We have our fingers crossed on this more optimistic outlook for the weekend.
