After A Beautiful Labor Day A Nice Tuesday Lies Ahead,
Thunderstorm Chance Wednesday Night
Long Island wrapped up the last weekend of the vacation season and the third holiday weekend of the summer on a beautiful note. After a few leftover clouds this morning we quickly went mostly sunny making for a lovely late summer day with highs that reached 80 or so in most places. Now we move ahead to a nice night of clear skies with low humidity and a windows open ac’s off kind of night with lows mostly in the upper 50s and lower 60s. The satellite is clear over us and the radars are nice and quiet.
SATELLITE
Tuesday brings us a lovely day with lots of sunshine. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Weak high pressure moves overhead and then moves out Tuesday night setting us up for the one day this week that has a few issues.
Wednesday brings a cold front through the area but not until Wednesday night. It will be the warmest day of the week as highs on Long Island reach the lower 80s. It will be a bit more humid but by no means will it be oppressive. While there could be a scattered afternoon shower or thunderstorm, the greater chance comes after dark Wednesday night when the front passes.
Once the front goes by it puts us back in a dry cool air mass for Thursday and Friday. Highs Thursday on Long Island with sunshine will be in the mid to upper 70s and Friday’s highs will be in the low to middle 70s. The weekend overall is looking good. Saturday looks to be dry with sunshine and highs in the 70s. Sunday should be no worse than partly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Another cold front follows Monday but no major weather events tropical or non tropical are forecast. Hurricane Larry with 125 mph winds will pass east of Bermuda over the next few days and have no impact here however it will kick up the surf and create rip current issues at the beaches late week so beware if you are heading for the shore.
