Blowing Away Strong West Winds
Blowing Away Strong West Winds
Wind Advisory continues this afternoon. Winds have been strong and gusty this afternoon on Long Island especially along South Shore locations where some gusts to 50 mph have been observed. We do have sunshine and temperatures have been making their way southward into the 40s. Winds will continue to remain gusty into tonight though the peak gusts should diminish somewhat after sunset. Skies will be mostly clear tonight and lows will bottom Monday morning in the low to mid 30s.
Radars have gone silent locally though rain continues in Northern New England with snow in the colder air on the northwest side. Lake effect snow showers are coming in to Western New York & Western Pennsylvania but those of course are not our issue.
There are no important changes in the week ahead forecast with sunshine and chilly conditions Monday with highs in the middle 40s. Add 10 degrees to that Tuesday with highs in the mid 50s with sunshine and a few clouds. Then we go back down for Wednesday and Thursday though Wednesday there still might be some leftover mild air after the cold front passes. Highs around 50 or so. Thursday Thanksgiving & Friday highs will be in the mid to upper 40s.
Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, weather models which have been going back and forth on some coastal rain thanks to an offshore low are back showing a period of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This would be a system that gets Long Island but it won’t extend much further north and west. We will watch it at this point but for now we will lean dry. Even if it happens there won’t be any rain or snow Thursday & Friday.
