With regards to Sunday night for Long Island, the chilly air mass coming down will indeed be cold for this time of year. And yes the growing season is underway and I’m sure everyone has put their annuals down and perhaps the summer vegetables and tomatoes. Right now the forecast low temperature map is above and the wind forecast map for Monday morning is below. As long as there is a breeze there will be no frost. Temperatures are right now forecast to bottom in the lower 40s. Even if that is a few degrees to high, it is well above levels for a hard freeze.

As for Monday night into Tuesday morning clouds may be the saving grace by then as the next weather system begins its approach from the southwest. So at least for now Long Islanders do not have a frost or freeze issue to worry about this weekend.
