High tides and a new moon combine for a minor to moderate coastal flooding event for the south shore of Nassau County. We are also seeing a southeast to east wind which is also adding to the coastal flood issue tonight. Coastal Flood Advisories are posted for the south shore of Suffolk and the North Shore of Suffolk & Nassau County as well for minor coastal flooding in those areas.

Radars to the south are showing some heavy thunderstorms developing and these downpours and thunderstorms will be lifting northward and will bring some rain to Long Island after 10pm and lasting into Friday morning. An inch or more of rain is possible IF some of the heavier thunderstorms hold together.
