Satellite loops this evneing show moisture pushing in from the south however Long Island remains on the northern fringe of all this rain. Much of the rain is light. The air is dry so it is having a tough time reaching the ground. Overall it will be a cloudy night and a cloudy start to Wednesday as weak low pressure moves away to the south and east.
Radar continues to show that rain sliding to the east. Now for Wednesday we will start with clouds but then we will have some breaks of sunshine in the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Thursday and Friday will be OK days though Thursday may see some afternoon clouds. An upper air disturbance will be moving through Thursday afternoon but for now I think I will leave any sprinkles or brief showers out of the forecast. Friday looks like the best day of the next 3 with sunshine and highs reaching into the 70s.

Now with regards to the weekend for Long Island and early next week, the first of 2 coastal lows will be headed our way. The one for Saturday night will come with a full moon so we need to watch this first low closely. The new moon 2 weeks ago produced the highest spring tides of the the season so that is a plus. Also the onshore flow develops later Saturday so that does cut down the time and number of high tide cycles to worry about. Still it is something we need to watch

The second issue will be a second low for early next week. This one comes with 2 days of an onshore flow. We also could see potentially a stronger low moving up the coast from this. The combination could mean a prolonged period of onshore flow which means coastal flooding issues are possible through early next week.
