Fathers Day Weekend Warm Humid Severe Weather Monday
Fathers Day Weekend Warm Humid Severe Weather Monday
It has been a cloudy raw humid day on Long Island with a southeast wind and we have seen occasional downpours. The satellite loop shows us socked in with clouds and the radar echos at 5pm above show showers and some heavy downpours to the west. The loops below show the radar echos moving east northeast and they may clip parts of Northern Nassau and Suffolk Counties this evening. Other than that it should be a cloudy damp night ahead with temperatures in the 60s along with some drizzle and fog.
The weekend looks to be warmer and more humid. There is the threat for some downpours Saturday morning and again in the evening one or two downpours could show up. In between it will be clouds with some brightening of skies possible with temperatures in the 70s. Sunday Fathers Day should be free of rain during the day but some showers and thunderstorms could arrive Sunday evening or Sunday night as the next cold front approaches. Temperatures on Sunday will be in the 70s to near 80. It won’t be picture perfect but at least you should be able to do things outdoors if you choose.
Monday the Storm Prediction Center is forecasting Long Island in a slight risk for severe weather. A cold front is likely to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms with temperatures in the 70s. We could see showers still around on Tuesday as the front will be slow moving.
