Heatwave About To Begin Long Island Hot Humid Weekend
This evening on Long Island we are seeing some thunderstorms that are moving across Long Island South and extend northward into Connecticut. This is due to low pressure in Eastern New England and a trailing weak frontal boundary that is pushing through this evening. To the west dry air is waiting to come in. There still could be some scattered thunderstorms to get through before skies clear tonight. It is very warm and humid this evening but we should see lows in the mid to upper 60s by morning and the humidity will drop off slightly.
EASTERN SATELLITE LOOP
Hot weather on Long Island this time of year depends on wind direction. I think that Most of Nassau & Northwestern Suffolk County north of the LIE could see 90 degree temperatures or higher for consecutive days beginning Friday and lasting into much of next week. The wind off the ocean could keep areas in Southern Nassau and Suffolk County south of Sunrise a little cooler depending on the south wind and when does the sea breeze come in. Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s Friday except closer to 80 at the beaches. Saturday it will be lower 90s while Sunday will be the hottest day of the stretch with highs reaching the 90s just about everywhere on Long Island. The East End could see temperatures close to 90 on Sunday. The chance for pop up thunderstorms this weekend is almost zero.
