Heavy Rain Ends Slow Improvement Developing Next 2 Days

The deluge of rain is now over with and other than a leftover shower or two, the rains are done. Now it will be a slow process of improvement and unfortunately it will be slow. The storm is now to our north but the intense upper air trough will take another day or so to move through. This is going to keep us in clouds and we will see a gradual return to chilly temperatures overnight and on Tuesday with lots of clouds. Tuesday’s highs may not get out of the 40s.

Rainfall amounts through 8am already totaled 1 to 2 inches in some spots and since more rain fell between 8am to 1pm it is likely that many of these amounts will double We will have updated totals later today.

The main arm of heavy rain and thunderstorms has now moved into New England. Again other than a leftover shower we are pretty much done.

Wednesday could prove to be a decent day with a fair amount of sunshine for most of the day. Highs should be back into the mid and upper 50s. The next weather system approaches from the Midwest Wednesday night and Thursday but it is nothing like this one. We could see a few showers early Thursday morning and again late Thursday with a mix of sun and clouds in between. Highs could reach into the 60s before a cold front passes. Friday looks better and the weekend looks okay though there may be some clouds around Saturday. Temperatures will continue to be below average right through the weekend.

Coastal flooding continues to diminish this evening and tonight though there could be some minor coastal flooding in more vulnerable areas on the next high tide.
