Long Island Looking Ahead To Nice Seasonal Weather

After the last 6 weeks with 5 major storms and the last few days of volatility that was off the wall, we seem to be slowly settling down over the next week or so that will eventually lead to a decent stretch of weather that will border seasonal, whatever that is. However we do have a little more work to do over the coming days. It would be anything extreme but we just need a little more patience before we can string together 3 or 4 days of decent weather. Today we still have the storm system that brought yesterday’s deluge and that is sitting in Eastern Canada at the moment. That is keeping Long Island under a cold unstable flow of air. This is why we have clouds around today and temperatures that are having a tough time breaking the 50 degree mark.

There are some showers popping up on the radar due to that instability and a passing shower or two is possible late this afternoon and evening Then we should clear out tonight with lows in the 30s and set up for a nice sunny but cool day Wednesday with highs in the 50s.

Thursday brings the next storm system across the Ohio Valley and fortunately the track will favor just a few showers late Wednesday night into Thursday morning and again late Thursday with some sun in between. We could see upper 50s and lower 60s on Thursday before the low redevelops to the east and moves away.

Friday high pressure begins to very slowly build in from the Great Lakes with another cool push of air. Highs will be in the 50s with some sun and clouds. That should be the story for the weekend though there is the chance for a passing shower late Saturday. Sunday through Tuesday another high strongly builds in from the northwest and that will keep any storm tracks to the south. This means we could have nice sunny weather for the most part Sunday through Tuesday and we could see highs in the 60s Monday and Tuesday of next week as long as the ocean wind behaves. At least we will be able to enjoy some nice weather for a change but there are no signs of super warm weather coming anytime soon.
