Yesterday’s weak cold front is today’s weak warm front that is setting up overhead. This will probably keep Long Island temperatures from getting too out of hand this afternoon. Places south and west of here will be in the 90s but the southeast or south wind is likely to keep highs closer to the lower 80s or even upper 70s near the shore. There should be a fair amount of sunshine and it is a good beach day.
Satellite and radar loops show nothing close by to worry about. Showers are to our north and moving northeastward. We are in pretty good shape for no rain into the first part of tonight. After midnight a cold front moves through with some showers or a thunderstorm between midnight and 8am. After that on Sunday it is leftover morning clouds with developing sunshine. Humidity will be dropping with highs in the low to mid 80s. Then next week looks good with sunshine Monday and Tuesday and highs in the 70s to near 80. 90 degree temperatures should be done for awhile (I hope!).
If you are headed for the area beaches there is a high risk of rip currents in Nassau County and a moderate risk in Suffolk.
