Long Island Much Colder Sunday & Thanksgiving Week
We will be finishing the week and starting the weekend off with a taste of Indian Summer on Long Island. We had a great day today with sunshine and highs into the 60s. The ocean storm to the east as shown on the satellite loop is blocking things up for the time being so we should not see any changes until Saturday night. A cold front will approach at that point. You can see on the satellite loop the storm that is developing in the Plains. That is a the seasons first major winter storm for the nation which comes a little late in my view but such is the pattern we were in.
High temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s on Friday. Saturday will be the warmer day as highs reach the 60s ahead of a cold front. No showers will fall until Saturday night when the front passes.
The front won’t produce much rain. Sunday will be windy and colder with temperatures settling in the 40s. There could be a few rain showers and as colder air gets into the mix some snow showers are not impossible. Sunday night through Tuesday will be cold with temperatures averaging 10 degrees or more below average. The weather looks to be mostly dry through mid week though there could be some snow showers on Monday and again Monday night.
Thanksgiving Day is looking like a rainy day at this point as low pressure heads to the coast. JOESTRADAMUS has more on this in his long range forecast outlook from earlier today.
