Snow Showers Long Island
With a strengthening storm moving northward into Southeastern Canada we are experiencing the flow of moist air around the back side of the storm. This is producing bands of snow to the north which are moving southward from Western Connectictut to Long Island. Radar shows a band of snow showers moving over Long Island from the north.
We will be watching the area of green on the radar which indicates some heavier snow showers. The cold air coming over Long Island Sound is creating some Long Island Sound effect flurries. This will continue on and off through much of the night into Monday morning. It is possible that a heavier snow shower could white the ground in spots should they survive the trip southward.
Over the next few days it will be cold with some breaks of sunshine through the clouds on Monday along with some snow showers. More sunshine and fewer clouds on Tuesday is forecast. The winds have been strong and gusty to 40 mph or more and that will continue overnight. Temperatures the next few days will only be in the lower 40s for highs with lows in the low to mid 30s.
