Labor Day Holiday Weekend Only Minor Issues Sunday For Long Island
The third and final holiday weekend of the summer is here and this one will be the best of the 3. It is a bit of a low bar that is set since the first two were not good at all but this time around we should be rain free for 2 of the three days. Sunday will be the one day where there is the risk for a shower or thunderstorm early in the day and again late in the day. There are no hurricanes or tropical storms threatening anywhere in the US so at least that is off the table.

Skies are sunny today. The air is crisp clean and dry. We bottomed in the 50s this morning and highs this afternoon will be in the low to middle 70s. Tonight will be another night of clear skies with lows in the 50s to near 60. Saturday looks good with lots of sunshine. Perhaps some high clouds will arrive late in the day or in the evening. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s with low humidity.
Sunday morning we will see a warm front come through and there could be a shower or thunderstorm when that goes by. Then we should break out into some sunshine with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Sunday night a cold front comes through with a shower or thunderstorm. The best chance for that will likely be around or after midnight. They will be gone by daybreak Monday. Then Labor Day looks good with some sunshine and highs again in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Tuesday see sunshine for Long Island with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Humidity will start to come up ahead of another cold front for Wednesday. Wednesday highs will be in the low 80s with a good chance for thunderstorms late in the day. Then another cool dry air mass arrives for the end of the week. It should be mostly a quiet weekend and week ahead except for these interruptions. Hurricane Larry looks to make a close pass to Bermuda midweek but the cold front moving through Wednesday should sweep eastward and keep Larry well offshore.
