Long Island Dry Cool Night Ahead Thursday Sunny Nice Weak Low Spins Up Friday
A beautiful day it was with sunshine, low humidity and highs in the 70s. We head into a night of clear skies with lows by morning in the 50s. The satellite shows dry air continues to cover the Eastern US from Maine to Georgia. Clouds are off shore from just east of Cape Cod southwestward to just off the Southeast US Coast. This is yesterday’s cold front that is stalled out in the Atlantic. High Pressure will slide east of Cape Cod Thursday and while winds till turn onshore, there is still plenty of dry air to give us a mostly sunny day. Highs will reach between 75 and 80 degrees inland though it will be 10 degrees cooler along the shore and over the East End.

We are going to transition to a very warm and humid air mass for the weekend and early next week. In the transition Friday weak low pressure will spin out of that frontal boundary and meander northward Thursday night and Friday. This will bring some clouds on the scene for that time period. There might even be a few sprinkles or showers around later Thursday night into early Friday morning.
The high offshore will build back westward Friday and the low will weaken and fall apart. This should leave us with clouds mixing with some sunshine on Friday. It will be more humid with highs mostly in the 70s.Then we move on to the weekend.
The last weekend of June on Long Island will be a very warm and humid one with high pressure offshore, a southwest flow, and a slow moving cold front well to the west. Look for some sunshine both Saturday and Sunday with highs inland in the mid 80s both days and 70s along the shore. There is just a very small chance for a pop up isolated shower or thunderstorm. The very warm and humid conditions will continue into next week and that cold front on the map above will get close by Tuesday.
