Long Island Enjoying A Late July Weekend More Humid Sunday
This is definitely a nice beach day with sunshine over Long Island as well as much of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. It will be a nice day and high clouds from the west won’t get here until later this afternoon or evening. Humidity levels remain reasonable today but they will be rising quickly overnight and Sunday as a warm front pushes across the area from west to east Sunday morning. Temperatures this afternoon will top in the middle 80s inland and at the beaches it will be in the 70s.
SATELLITE
Radars are nice and quiet today though the regional radar is picking up some showers from the approaching warm front to the west on the far left of the radar view. Nothing is going on across the Northeast that will be of any worry for us so enjoy the rest of your day.
WEATHER RADAR
Tonight a warm front approaches so clouds increase with lows in the mid to upper 60s. Early Sunday morning we may see a few showers go by but they will move through quickly and then skies should go partly sunny. It will also turn much more humid and there is the chance for an evening shower or thunderstorm. Highs will reach the middle 80s inland and 70s to near 80 at the beaches. I would venture to say that while not as nice as today, most of Sunday should be rain free especially from mid morning until late afternoon.
The week ahead is all about a northwest flow in the upper atmosphere and cold fronts passing from time to time. Sunday’s front isn’t anything to write home about and temperatures Monday will be very warm. The humidity may edge a little lower only to go higher on Tuesday. Look for partly to mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 80s to near 90. Another front approaches Wednesday with a shower or thunderstorm possible with that. Late Thursday brings the strongest front of the bunch and this one might produce more widespread shower and thunderstorm late in the day Thursday. This will be followed by a nice dry shot of air for Friday and next weekend.
