Warm Humid Afternoon Slight Chance Evening Thunderstorm Week Ahead Outlook

While areas to the west have broken out into some sunshine, Long Island is taking a little while longer since the showers didn’t exit until mid to late morning. However we should see clouds decrease enough to go partly sunny from west to east. It will be a very warm and humid afternoon as temperatures reach the low and middle 80s especially Western Long Island while 70s to near 80 are more likely to the east.

The atmosphere does become unstable again this afternoon and evening but this should impact areas inland rather than the coast as they are getting an extra few hours of sun. This is why there is no severe weather risk indicated for Long Island today and there is just the outside chance we see a scattered shower or thunderstorm this evening. The chances seem low.

Overnight we will see leftover clouds with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s. The humidity will ease slightly on Monday and with sunshine it should be very warm day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. We are going to leave out the mention of a shower or thunderstorm popping up. Temperatures of course will be a little cooler at the shore.

Tuesday will be very warm and the humidity won’t go up too much ahead of another front. There is the risk for thunderstorms late in the day but ahead of it skies should be no worse than partly sunny with highs in the 80s, cooler at the shore. Wednesday brings another frontal passage early leaving us with sunshine but the humidity will start to climb later in the day and certainly Wednesday night. Highs Wednesday will be in the 80s again, cooler at the shore.

Thursday brings a more important cold front and an upper trough so there is the risk for more widespread thunderstorm activity as this front passes. Highs Thursday under partly sunny skies ahead of the front will be in the mid to upper 80s with high humidity. The payoff will be another nice shot of dry air and low humidity return for Friday and the start of next weekend. So it is a bit of an up and down week. Humid at times but it won’t be extreme. Thunderstorm issues late Tuesday and late Thursday. Much of the time it will be typical late July so enjoy.
