Long Island enjoys some sunshine this afternoon. Clouds are more stubborn in some places than in others but overall it is an okay afternoon with temperatures in the 60s. There is an upper air disturbance and you can see the rotation on the satellite loop in Upstate NY and Western New England. The southern arm of that disturbance will swing through late this afternoon and evening and with that passage there could be a passing shower or two. After that skies will clear overnight.
Friday looks like a very good day with mostly sunny skies and temperatures will respond by climbing into the low and middle 70s except where local sea breezes occur during the afternoon and evening.

Rain comes in on Saturday. Models differ on how far north the rain will get. It seems Long Island will get into some rain Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. The more aggressive nam model paints a very wet picture with rain lasting into Sunday morning.

The NAM model has a deeper low further northwest. It remains to be seen whether this will indeed be the case. Either way gray skies will dominate the weather Saturday. Sunday we may see some breaks of sun but the cold unstable air aloft will mean some showers developing Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. Temperatures will be held back due to the onshore flow Saturday. Once the rain starts temperatures will settle in the 50s. We should see 60s Sunday before any showers.
I still think there will be some coastal flooding issues Saturday and Saturday night with the combination of the full moon and the onshore flow.
