Long Island Gloom And Doom Like Ahead For Much of This Week
The beautiful weather of last week was actually an anomaly for this time of year. Usually the spring for Long Island is an awful weather time of year. You can usually thank stalled fronts to the south and a persistent flow off the ocean for this. Last week the blocking pattern that left us in a sweet spot for days has now realigned itself and that means this week will be much different and more typical of springtime.

F5 WEATHER RADARS
Let’s begin with today. Rain is lifting northward but the warm front responsible for this has slowed down considerably and now will not make it through here. Rain develops this morning and likely lasts into the late afternoon and evening. We will also see some on and off showers overnight into Monday with the frontal boundary stalled to our south.
Between the clouds, the rain, and the developing northeast wind that lasts through Monday temperatures will be going no where. Highs will be in the raw mid to upper 50s today and in the even more raw (or is it rawer?) low and mid 50s at best for Monday.
A slight reprieve is possible Tuesday before we see the chance for showers again on Wednesday. Low pressure will develop to the south leading us to a solid chance for rain Thursday and possibly into Friday. For the most part we are reversing the near perfect weather of last week to gloom and doom for this week with below average temperatures.
