Break From Gloom And Doom Tuesday But It Returns Mid And Late Week
It is fair to say that today was a miserable spring day. Clouds dominate the satellite this evening as they have all day long. We have seen occasional light rain on and off and temperatures that were primarily in the upper 40s to a few lower 50s. Nothing changes this evening or tonight. We continue to see bands of showers moving northwestward from off the ocean thanks to an upper low passing to our south.

The upper low is beginning to move east out of West Virginia and Ohio and it will move offshore later tonight. The showers should diminish and end with leftover clouds into daybreak. Temperatures overnight will be mostly in the 40s.
Tuesday we will be in between weather systems and that brings us a break from doom and gloom. We should see sunshine take hold on Tuesday. Cool air is overhead and we will still have a bit of an onshore wind so that will keep temperatures from climbing much higher than the mid to upper 50s though some warm spots on the North Shore to perhaps nail the 60 degree mark.
It starts to go slowly downhill on Wednesday as clouds increase though we may have some sun in the morning. Late in the day or more than likely Wednesday night some light rain will likely develop. Temperatures Wednesday’s highs will be in the upper 50s to around or just over 60. Then as the GFS and other models show, low pressure develops off the coast of Virginia and then pivots northwestward to near Long Island Thursday and it hangs around on Friday as well. Thursday and probably part of Friday will be on the miserable side with cloudy skies, very raw and breezy conditions, and we will have rain. Temperatures both days will be mostly in the 40s. Tides will run above normal and some coastal flooding is possible. The low and the upper air storm driving this system will move offshore Friday night and that should lead to improvement for the weekend. Look for sunshine on Saturday with highs in the 50s to near 60. Sunday we will see early sun and arriving clouds with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Another system could bring a few showers Sunday night into Monday of next week. No warm weather is in the cards in the medium term and there could be more opportunities for showers next week.
