Long Island Heat Humidity Break Today Week Ahead Outlook
The hot and humid weather of the last four days has come to an end and Long Island will see a far better day today with sunny skies, low humidity and highs reaching the lower 80s. It is a fairly straight forward forecast. There are some showers with yesterday’s cold front well to the south and east but they are of no factor here today. Tonight should be nice and clear for most of the night with lows by Monday morning in the 60s.

Monday we will start to see a return to a more southerly flow. Initially we will have enough dry air to squeeze out a partly sunny day with reasonable humidity. Highs Monday will be in the lower 80s inland and 70s along the shore. However things do change as the new week progresses.
We won’t see a return to the heat but the humidity will be going up. In the Gulf of Mexico Fred will likely become a tropical storm again later today as the NAM shows it moving northward toward the Gulf Coast. This system is going to move up the west side of the Appalachians bring rain to areas to the east of the remnant low track. However the bulk of this passes well to our west.
Likely for Long Island it means for warm and humid conditions starting Tuesday but not much in the way of any rain until perhaps late in the week. This leaves Tuesday and Wednesday as cloudy to partly sunny days with maybe a small chance for a shower or downpour. Highs will be in the lower 80s both Tuesday and Wednesday. Chances for downpours likely increase later in the week.
