Long Island Miserable Weather Feels Like November
Take a good look at these 4pm temperatures on Long Island and there is no doubt about this. Long Island miserable weather is the best description. It feels like November out there. The air temperatures are all in the low to mid 50s. The air temperatures are actually colder than the ocean water temperatures which area primarily in the mid to upper 50s! You can thank this upper air storm to the northwest, an onshore flow and cool air from Eastern Canada for all of this. There is some good news however. The short term outlook has changed some regarding this upper air storm. There is dry air coming into Northern New England this evening and it appears there will be room for that dry air to push southward into Long Island Wednesday afternoon. If that occurs and I think there is a good chance for that to happen, we should see some breaks of sunshine developing. That would at least bring temperatures on Wednesday back up closer to 70 away from the ocean.
The optimism continues for Thursday and Friday as it now appears that the storm system in the Gulf States will stay offshore and that dry air will win out. Assuming that is the case we should see some sun Thursday with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s and lots of sunshine for Friday with most highs in the 70s.
After that there is no change for the weekend and into next week as even warmer air arrives. We should see temperatures reach into the 80s away from the ocean by Sunday and it could hit 90 Monday and Tuesday. Sunshine will be with us through the weekend and into next week. Nothing more than a few clouds are forecast to mix in with the sun on Saturday as that very warm air begins to arrive. Hang tough folks because our Long Island Miserable Weather is about to come an end albeit slowly.
