Long Island Near 90 Beach Forecast
Very Warm Into Saturday
Finally that upper low that has been along the east coast is gone and now we have deep blue sky and sunshine with a northwest wind. Temperatures this afternoon on Long Island will be in the mid 80s to near 90..except near 80 on the East End and on the immediate beaches. It looks as if we finish the week with warm and humid conditions. Today will be the hottest of the next 4 as winds become more southwest with time and temperatures ease a few degrees each day. The southwest wind comes in off the cold 50-55 degree ocean. The west or northwest wind is a land based wind that heats things up and keeps the sea breeze away. That is what we have today.
No rain is forecast until maybe late Friday with a chance for a shower or thunderstorm and the same holds for Saturday. No changes in the Sunday Monday outlook as that continues to hinge on whether an onshore flow develops.

A west wind will keep the sea breeze at bay and we should see lots of sunshine all day long. No rain is forecast. Temperatures at the beaches should reach the 80s at the beaches before any sea breeze develops. To me it sounds like a good day for the beach if you so choose. Water temperatures are in the low 50s. Winds NW up to 15 knots except onshore late this afternoon and evening.

Of course just because the air temperatures and sky conditions say head to the beach, the water temperatures this weekend suggest that only the brave should dare the surf. Ocean water temperatures are in the low to mid 50s around Long Island so unless you like the feeling of knives cutting through you, I would think twice about swimming in water that cold. Exposure can be an issue.
With respect to sun tans and sunburns the UV index will be very high on Wednesday as the sun is as strong now as it is in late July. You will burn quickly under full sunshine.
